What do Professional Roof Inspections Look For?

Roof inspectors look for leaks, unusual wear and tear, damage caused by wind, granular loss, curling and problems that may have occurred during shingle installation, solar installations or other repairs. Typical roof inspections get broken into four categories: structure, materials, interiors, and workmanship.

Material Inspections is where Greener Shingles come in. Greener Shingles rejuvenator resaturates the roof shingle, helping the shingle to retain its ability to expand and contract without cracking. Just like parking lots or roadways, when the oil in the asphalt dries out, you get cracking and chipping which lead to pot holes. The same thing happens with asphalt based shingles, the oils dry out, which leads to the small rocks falling out and the shingle starts to fail and crack leading to leaks and ultimate failure of the shingle.

So, where does that leave us for your next roof inspection. If you don't maintain your roof shingles, those all important oils will be dried out and the shingles wont pass inspection. Conversely, if the shingle have been rejuvenated, the shingles will be flexible, the granular will stay in place and the roof inspector will pass the roof as long as everything else check out.

Asphalt roofs usually start showing signs of aging after five to ten years depending on region and environmental conditions. The shingle’s granular coating starts washing into the gutters as the essential oils dry up, losing the ability to hold the granular in place. Greener Shingle's bio-based product was tested and proven to have a 86% better granular adhesion on treated shingles versus untreated. Greener Shingles increases shingle flexibility, helps keep granular in place, helps waterproof the surface, suffocates moss, and improves fire resistance, preserving and rejuvenating the shingles to last longer, keeping them on your roof where they belong.
